What is gelatin?

31-Oct-2017

Gelatin is a form of hydrolysed collagen. Collagen is a fibrous protein that strengthens the body’s connective tissues.

What is gelatin?

Gelatin is simply cooked collagen. In the hydrolyzed form, the collagen is processed more intensively, which actually breaks up the proteins into smaller pieces, eliminating the gelling agent, making the powder easier to digest and for our bodies to absorb.

Gelatin is used worldwide for the following purposes:

Weight loss - allergies - to develop more muscle mass - for joint and bone protection - for smoother skin - assist with hair and nail growth and strength - prevents degeneration of cartilage in joints - prevents stretch marks - assists with cellulite

Health properties of gelatin

Gelatin is rich in glycine, missing in all muscle meats and low in organ meats. Glycine nurtures the thyroid with highly anti-inflammatory properties. It heals damaged intestinal lining, from years of high fibre diets, gluten indulgence, food sensitivities and allergies. It is also hydrophilic which helps in hydrating all tissues in the body and restores hydrochloric acid balance which fuels digestion.

Gelatin is also rich in a non-essential amino acid called proline which has been shown to inhibit tumor production. Both glycine and proline aid in phase 2 liver detoxification and can aid in the protection of the liver.

Loaded with protein - it’s a great way to add more protein to your diet. Gelatin can be added to a fruit smoothie, hot chocolate, even coffee, or juice.

Gelatin is a miracle powder

Gelatin exists in the bones, hides, and connective tissues of many animals, as well as humans. This makes up almost one-third of all the protein in the human body and is responsible for everything from how many wrinkles we have to whether or not we have stiff joints after sitting too long.

Collagen is a fibrous protein that strengthens the body’s connective tissues, allowing them to be elastic so they can stretch without breaking. As we get older, our bodies make less collagen, by ingesting gelatin however, we give our bodies new stepping stones with which to build more collagen.

Gelatin also contains 18 amino acids. Many of these amino acids are “essential,” meaning they can’t be produced by our bodies and must be acquired as part of our diet.

Hence the numerous health benefits of this "miracle powder", as more research is being conducted, and new evidence is coming to light, we cannot ignore how vital this addition to our diet is.
