I am a Hypnotherapist of some repute and I have been interested in this area for some years now.
I was recently asked by my publishing team to review a course that they had found on the internet. They were doing research for me and they wanted to know my thoughts. I dragged my heals as I always do but then I agreed and put a day aside to conduct my trial of this book.
I will call this researcher Anita (which is obviously not her real name). Anita had been working for me for almost 5 years and she knew that I have a bit of a thing about the very low standard of information which was being given to people who were investigating becoming involved in the remarkable medium of hypnosis. I am even in the throws of writing my own course and this is why Anita had come across the resource that she did.
So, it was with this background that I began my review of this new course.
Well, I have reviewed this course and I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of it and I found some difficulty in coming up with suggestions as to how the material could be improved and so I decided that this guy ought to have his read by anyone who was looking to learn hypnosis in a way that would maximise their experience. So this article is designed to simply let you know what my experience was and to give you my thoughts as a very experienced hypnosis professional to help you choose the best way for you to get into a trance experience.
I went to the site where this book was located and I first read the sales letter. I was quite impressed – I normally see a letter which is 5 blocks long and in this case it was much more succinct and I got through the text in about 5 or 6 minutes. There were some valuable free gifts on offer and the author (John Hill) was obviously skilled in the knowledge of his craft – I could tell by how he had thoughtfully collected his comments on his sales page. It was interesting to find that the free gifts were actually gifts that I thought people would want – ‘Positive Thinking and Self Talk Tactics’, ‘Alternative Medicine’ and ‘Using NLP on Ebay’. Mmmmmm – I could see some people buying the course just to get the free gifts – that is quite refreshing.
John Hill is the author of both the book and I suppose the site and he seems like a very accomplished Hypnotherapist and NLP Professional and this was a good sign.
The testimonials on the site looked real and I sent him a message asking to see a copy of these, by return email. It took a day but I could see that they were in fact true original testimonials and that is always a positive sign for me.
NLP had clearly had an impact on John’s life – it shone through in his sales letter and I concurred with this. It was clear that he was a true professional and he knew his subject well.
The course seemed to be equally pitched at both beginners and established hypnotherapy professionals which is not easy to do I must say. These courses are usually one or the other but rarely both.
I saw that John had a 100% product guarantee – now this is a very good sign. It told me that he was /confident that his product would do what he as claiming otherwise he would not earn a cent from his efforts. I do like that.
Anyway, then came the crunch – I decided to purchase the product and take it for a test drive. Well, I just could not believe this aspect of it folks. I bought the book and it cost me $57.00. I could not believe the price tag – I have bought many courses on hypnosis in the past but the lowest I ever paid for a course of this nature was much higher than this – but I wanted to look at the product – after all it may be rubbish and so this price could be expensive.
The product was downloaded to me instantly and I printed it off – as I am not a lover of going through a course by staring up into a screen.
The first thing that I noticed was how well the book layout had been designed. People often think of ebooks as some sort of inferior product – this was not one of those. The book has 110 pages split up into 15 relevant chapters. I noticed that even the History of Hypnosis had been included which was a nice touch. John had managed to list a few specific interventions which was a new concept for me. One normally has to purchase these elements separately and so that was a nice surprise.
As I continued through the book, I was very pleased at the standard of the pictures and at how appropriate that they were in relation to the text. It is my experience that some people just throw any old picture into text to get it out and sold as soon as they can. As I read, I came across an amazing reference to ‘Hypno Sleep’. I knew that this was a Dave Elman technique from many years ago and I just didn’t expect to see this advanced process in such a book. Hypno Sleep is the most effective method of helping old people and children alike and was one of my personal little ‘Secrets’. Try it for yourself, contact a hypotherapist or hypnotist and ask them about ‘Hypno Sleep’ – they won’t know what you are talking about.
I went through the course in a couple of hours and overall it was very well thought out, researched and appropriately illustrated. John Hill managed to put his points across simply but eloquently however, in the interests of maintain an unbiased balance, I did find one area that I thought needed to be changed.
The only area that I could criticize is on the aspect of price and that is not a thing you should be worried about really, or at least not yet. I was of the opinion that John Hill should be charging at least $597 for this course, after all I have courses for sale with less in them than this one for over $1,000 so I know what I am talking about.
I am considering selling this product to my own customers but I would not even dare to approach them at the existing price and it is my intention to contact John over the coming weeks to mention this. I think that many people will value material by the amount of money that it costs and this is just a fact of life.
so, what do I recommend? To you I recommend that you buy this course whatever its price – it really is a good example of how to get into hypnosis or how to get better at it if you are already involved. To John, my recommendation is to drastically increase your price and $597 would be my recommended price.
I have to pass on my congratulations to John Hill – he has produced a sound and really conscientious introduction and update into the remarkable world of learning nlp hypnosis. This book is going to be a very good seller and so it should be.
Overall Rating – 98%
Value for money – 998%
I hope this article helps you in some way and I am pleased to be of service.
