The Wii console is everywhere now, many people have purchased the Nintendo Wii for their families or to play with their friends. The Wii Fit helped bring the console to many more users than if it were only a gaming console. So what’s next for the Nintendo Wii game system?

To keep momentum going, Nintendo is releasing plenty of new features, games and accessories. One new release for May 2009 is the Wii MotionPlus controller addon. This accessory gets attached to the motion-sensitive controller to help increase sensitivity of the controller. With better control, players can improve at new sports and challenges. An upgraded Wii Sports is coming out in June, using the MotionPlus accessory, called Wii Sports Resort.

There is also a new Wii console bundle coming too, with the new Sports Resort game and also the MotionPlus. Wii bundles come with a console, and some have new games also, for new users who haven’t purchased a console yet, but want to get one now with the new games coming out.

Nintendo is also developing a new “vitality sensor”, which is a clip onto your fingertip with a sensor using a light sensor to read your biorhythms. The idea is that this would then measure your brain waves, giving users access to biofeedback readings. The possibile uses are to learn meditation, reduce blood pressure, learn tof ocus and concentrate – if it works as proposed! This accessory is targeted for release in 2010, but is not yet confirmed by Nintendo.

Nintendo keeps attracting plenty of non-gamers to its console, with new games and fun for anyone, not just gamers. The perfect example is the Wii Fit which was huge for Nintendo, and helps anyone of any age start and maintain a fitness program using the balance board to work out, track progress, and build workout routines.

Sports games have always been popular on the Wii, and more are coming. Wii Sports bundles will have plenty of options to choose from with sports games and accessories plus the Wii console right out of the box. Two new tennis games for example are Virtua Tennis from Sega and Grand Slam Tennis from EA Sports, with Grand Slam using the MotionPlus accessory.

Another kick-butt release, EA Sports Active, adds a sensor pad for users to strap onto their leg, helping track body movements while running, jumping, and kicking. This kind of innovation will keep the Wii console at the top of the hot list for some time.
