So, you want to get into medical school huh? You have gone through college and all that premed stuff and are now ready to show them what you have. Are you ready for the list of medical schools that you can apply to and the applications that go with them? There is one part in which you really have to woo them on. This is the medical school personal statement.

What you need to remember when you are writing your personal statement is that some of these are the questions in the medical school interview. This helps them get an idea of who you are and what you wish to accomplish as well. Besides your medical school gpa they want to know what you do in your free time and more. Here is some sections you should include

The first thing you need to show them is that you are serious about the medical field. Show them where your influence began. For some they read about stuff. For some it was a parent or family member and has been instilled in them. For others, it is because they were saved by the field that they want to study. Tell them what prompted you.

They want to know what you do for other people. You have this skill and though you cannot use it much, what do you do with it? How to you give back to those who are willing to help you get to the point where you want to be? Are you a mentor? Do you donate your time? Are you a student aid? What are you doing to help others?

Besides the medicine that you are wishing to practice and the schooling you do what else do you do? Were you in a fraternity? Do you sing in the church choir? By saying that you are involved with other things you show them that you do have a life. Show them what you are capable of and show them that you can multitask. This also shows them that you have a life and can just rest as well. You can leave work at work.

You want them to have a glimpse at who you are. What are you made of? What has shaped you to be the doctor that you wish to be? are you the right person for them. Consider this your first job interview. It is that important.

There is one more thing that you need to include. This shows them where you are going. You need to explain your plan to them. Where do you see yourself after you graduate? Where, when, working with who in what field. All of this should be answered because it says you are going somewhere one way or another.

When you do this, you can go far. They see the drive in you. They want to welcome you in as you will show a nation that you graduated from there and you will make them proud. Whatever they hand you, you will be ready for. It is all about selling yourself to people who have been there and done that.
